Listened to this episode on the way to work @Aggelos and @Sinbad. I share many of your same concerns about how to strike a fine balance between offering cool cosmetic stuff that can help finance the game and what feels like just too far in terms of squeezing. Also agree about some of the pre-order packages in the store currently not quite striking the right value proposition, they may need to continue adjusting so that new folks discovering the game aren't put off by the constantly shifting package compositions.

This was brought up in the podcast but I believe there needs to be a balance between  cash shop cosmetics and cosmetics obtained within the game its self. With many of the MMO's I have played there has been many hours spent completing content or hunting for those rare drops and rewards that will give nothing more than a new pet, mount or skin, and I think it is important that there exists such opportunities with in AOC. If all of the cool looking skins or pets can only be obtained from the cash shop then I thing IS will be doing themselves a disservice and providing less incentive for people to actually log into the game. Its not all about fighting through dungeons or raids tearing down cities all the time, people like to chase some of the fluff at times and there has to be incentive to do so. Plus there should be cool cosmetic item obtained through content, and when other see that cool looking mount or skin they can aspire to obtain it too, thus providing more drive to keep playing.

There is however another concern I have and that is the gear obtained through crafting and drops will not be made to look as awesome as the skins you buy, this to me would be truly disappointing, as I tend to wear heavy armour and not use skins at all. There needs to be a balance struck where awesome looking gear can be obtained in game, along with skins etc with a cash shop that is there to compliment what is available through just playing the game.

Agree, especially in a big sandbox world, there's going to be a ton of opportunity for Intrepid to add little things that make players want to just inhabit the world, even when they aren't directly working on character or node progression. I'm very curious to see what type of collectibles systems they will have in game.
